A Nourished Life is where I share recipes and reflections for balanced living, food that feels good, stories that carry memory, and simple practices that restore well-being.
For me, food has always been more than a meal. It’s connection to people, to place, and to the moments that linger long after the last bite. I learned to cook from my grandmother, Eva, in her spice-scented San Antonio kitchen, and from Lim Fun, a Paris-trained chef who cooked for my mother and introduced me to the idea that food could be both refined and soulful.
Later, I built on those early lessons by running my own catering business and gourmet store, Ruchetta, on Fishers Island, New York, where I honed my skills and deepened my love of bringing people together around the table.
After losing my mother, I realized how many questions I wished I had asked her. That longing sparked this space as a way to preserve family recipes, traditions, and the small joys that shape who I am, and to pass them on to my son and granddaughter.
Now, living in Portugal, I continue to draw inspiration from markets, travels around Europe and elsewhere, coastal walks, and the rhythm of everyday life. But at its core, A Nourished Life is about balance. I believe in eating the salad and the cake, in nourishing body, mind, and soul, and in finding meaning in the rituals that sustain us.
